Forklift engine flywheel has a large moment of inertia. Since the working of each engine cylinder is discontinuous, the engine speed also changes accordingly.

 

When the engine speed increases, the energy of the flywheel is increased too, so the energy is stored. When the engine speed decreases, the energy of flywheel is decreased, so energy is releasing. The engine flywheel can be used to reduce speed fluctuations during engine operation.

 

The forklift engine flywheel is installed at the rear end of the engine crankshaft and has a rotational inertia. The function of the forklift engine flywheel is to store the energy, overcome the resistance of other components, and make the crankshaft rotate evenly.
