Forklift Flywheel Housing

The flywheel housing is installed between the engine and the transmission, connecting the crankcase, starter, and oil pan while housing the flywheel assembly. Its main function is to ensure the effective connection between the engine and transmission. The flywheel housing allows different types of forklifts to use the same engine by adapting the connection, and meeting market demands. While the connection face to the engine remains the same across models, the clutch connection face differs, though functional holes are the same.

Typically, the flywheel housing is bowl-shaped, with a maximum diameter of 600mm and a height of nearly 300mm. Made mostly from gray cast iron, it has an uneven wall thickness, ranging from 5mm at its thinnest to 40mm at its thickest. Due to the large surface area of the engine and clutch connection faces, deformation during casting can occur, so the connection holes must be machined.
